Amber Jewelry Tips
Amber has been with us for generations in the creation of jewelry and has always been a bit of a crowd pleaser. Emperors and kings have had this in their collection of jewelry and it was even used as stone settings for their chalices and swords. It is the perfect gem to use as it’s not that expensive while still looking classy and elegant.
Ambers are available in colors that range from honey gold to green and is usually paired off with precious metals such as gold, silver and even titanium. There are a lot of choices and designs to choose from whether you want amber bracelets, rings, earrings and pendants. You can have your pick of the range available, and will rarely regret owning it.
When you have your own amber jewelry, you should know how to take care of it. Taking care of it properly can make it last for several lifetimes and still have its beauty and luster. Here are some tips on how to preserve or enhance your amber jewelry.
Storage: When storing your amber jewelry, cover it with a soft cloth first. Don’t mix it up with other alloys as to not tarnish your silver.
Polishing and cleaning: To make your amber shine, wipe it with a little olive oil. Not too much oil though, you don’t want greasy jewelry. To keep your amber jewelry clean, soak it in warm water for 10 minutes. Don’t use or add soap or toothpaste to it. The soaking makes the dirt softer and easier to clean. Use a soft cloth or a soft bristled toothbrush but brush gently.
Precautions: Don’t expose your amber jewelry to extremes of conditions, examples of which are over exposure to heat or fluctuating temperature; and application of perfumes, hairspray and corrosive chemicals. Extreme heat can cause your amber to form cracks. Colognes and hairspray can also damage your amber’s shine.
Keep these tips in mind, and you’ll be sure your amber will last a lifetime with its original luster maintained.
