Bar Stool Cushion Comfort
Adding bar stool cushions to your existing bar stools can be an excellent way to dress them up and add some much needed comfort. Are your bar stools hard and uncomfortable to sit on? Perhaps the existing upholstery is torn or worn? There are many options available for new bar stool cushions.
For round bar stools, with no back support, adding a cushion is easy. If you simply place a round cloth cushion on top, it will slide off onto the floor every time some one tries to sit on it. Using a cushion with a rubberized gator grip under pad may help, but it likely won’t solve the problem. The unique design of a round bar stool allows for the use of a cushion with a skirt. An elastic skirt sewn around the perimeter of the cushion is stretched down around the underside of the stool seat. This secures the cushion to the stool and provides a seamless, attractive look. Going one step further and using a gator grip under pad will keep the cushion even more secure.
A bar stool with back support won’t be able to take this type of cushion. The back support would interfere with the skirt and the cushion would not be secure. A standard chair pad cushion would have to be used in this case. This kind of cushion typically has tie down straps at the back corners and is secured by being tied to the lumbar support frame. This type of cushion will still tend to slide around however, though it won’t fall on the floor. The sliding around will be more of an issue on a high bar stool, as compared to a normal chair, as the user typically will bump it as they try to climb up to the higher seat. This is why a gator grip under pad is recommended for this style of cushion, to help keep it securely in place.
To get the most out of your bar stool cushions, using a cheap foam or fiber stuffing is not recommended. A good quality memory foam will ensure that the cushion will retain it’s thickness for as many years as possible, and provide maximum comfort for your guests, your family and yourself.
