Verizon vs Dish Network Satellite

One of the newest features offered by Verizon is cable television service.  It is called Fios TV, and is designed to compete with satellite television and cable providers in the areas served by Verizon.   Verizon is taking their traditional copper phone network and completely ripping it out of the ground, replacing it with brand new fiber optic lines.  The result is the fastest network available to the public for high speed internet speeds, with the added benefits of cable TV and phone service.  So if you are considering Fios for your cable company, you might want to compare Verizon vs Dish before making a final decision.

Dish Network has of course been around much longer as a pay television provider, and they have more than 14 million subscribers total.  Fios while being fairly new already claims more than 2 million video customers.  The main difference of course between the companies is the method they use to deliver the signal to the end user.  With Dish TV, you of course have to install a satellite dish somewhere on your house, which can mean trouble for those living in apartments or condos.  Fios has its own issues in reaching the customer, as it is an ongoing process to deploy the fiber optic network to millions of potential subscribers.

One big advantage that Verizon does have is the ability to offer the Fios Triple play which combines multiple services for the end user.  While Dish Network is basically a satellite TV company, the competition can bundle everything together so that you can one stop shop.  The best deals are generally found for first time customers, as you can get a $20 a month discount for two years, resulting in $480 in total savings.  Deals can also be found with Dish Network service, though they are only good for the first 12 months.
